It’s still a couple of months until the start of the 2023 MLB season, but YouTube TV subscribers who love the baseball channel may need to begin searching for other service providers. YouTube TV recently announced that their deal with the MLB Network is not being renewed and the channel will be removed from the streaming service from yesterday, January 31st.
Although negotiation and discussions were held in an effort to extend the agreement, it was not successful. As a result, any Library recordings you may have had will also be lost. However, talks are reportedly still ongoing between YouTube TV and MLB Network about possibly carrying it again in the future, which means content could be restored in due course.
Below is the exhaustive email circulating to YouTube TV clients:
Hello Deborah,
We have been striving to renew our agreement with the MLB Network for YouTube TV, but unfortunately, we haven’t been able to reach a mutual understanding. Consequently, starting from yesterday (January 31, 2023), MLB Network content will no longer be available on YouTube TV; you won’t have access to the previously recorded Series either.
Nevertheless, members can watch national MLB games through our Base Plan on FOX, ESPN, and TBS. Plus, you can pause or cancel your membership at any time you want.
We apologize for this unpleasant news and will keep trying to come up with a solution that would bring MLB content back to YouTube TV. We appreciate your loyalty and understanding as always.
Truthfully,
The YouTube TV team
We shall alert you if will be able to re-add MLB Network.
