Siri is Apple’s virtual assistant that is integrated into iPhones and iPads, providing users with a quick and convenient way to perform tasks, search the web, and more. However, some users may want to try a different virtual assistant, such as ChatGPT, a large language model developed by OpenAI. In this article, we’ll guide you through the steps to replace Siri with ChatGPT on your iPhone and iPad.
Step 1: Download the Shortcuts App
To use ChatGPT on your iPhone or iPad, you need to download the Shortcuts app. It is available for free on the App Store. Once you have downloaded and installed the app, launch it.
Step 2: Create a New Shortcut
Tap the “+” icon in the top-right corner of the app to create a new shortcut. Then tap the “Add Action” button and search for “Get Contents of URL.” Add this action to your shortcut.
Step 3: Enter the ChatGPT API URL
Next, you need to enter the ChatGPT API URL into the “Get Contents of URL” action. The API URL is “https://api.openai.com/v1/engines/davinci-codex/completions.” Tap the “Headers” option and add a new header with the key “Authorization” and the value “Bearer {API_KEY}”, where {API_KEY} is your ChatGPT API key. If you don’t have a ChatGPT API key, you can sign up for one on the OpenAI website.
Step 4: Customize Your Shortcut
You can now customize your shortcut to work the way you want. For example, you can add a prompt to ask for input, such as “What can I help you with?” You can also add actions to format the output, such as speaking the response out loud or displaying it on the screen.
Step 5: Add Your Shortcut to Siri
To replace Siri with ChatGPT, you need to add your shortcut to Siri. To do this, tap the “Add to Siri” button at the bottom of your shortcut, and then record a phrase that you want to use to trigger your shortcut. For example, you can say “ChatGPT, help me with” and then your question.
Step 6: Test Your Shortcut
To test your shortcut, simply say the phrase that you recorded to Siri. Siri will then pass your question on to ChatGPT, and the response will be displayed or spoken back to you.
