Arsenal, current leaders of the Premier League, have secured the signing of Jorginho from fellow London side Chelsea on Deadline Day for an estimated £12m.
Arsenal FC is delighted to announce that Italian international Jorginho has joined them from Chelsea. The 31-year-old midfielder boasts an impressive array of experience, with 143 Premier League appearances, nearly 500 club appearances, and 46 international caps for Italy – including Euro 2020 glory.
Jorginho’s career highlights include winning UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup with Chelsea. His four seasons at Verona saw him make 96 appearances before moving to Napoli where he won the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana in 2014, making 160 appearances over four seasons.
Sporting Director Edu commented: “Jorginho is a top professional who has the right mentality to fit our style of play – he has come at the perfect moment for us and can contribute in a significant way. Welcome to Arsenal!” Mikel Arteta added: “Jorginho is an intelligent midfield player with tremendous leadership capabilities and extensive Premier League and international experience; he still has a great appetite to succeed here at the club. We’re thrilled that he is joining us today!”
